The trustees of the Schenectady turnpike also had got an inkling that something new had turned up, which they had been slow to perceive. A survey was begun by Mr. Cushman with a view to laying down rails, it being claimed that they were invested with rail road privileges; The project was quashed, I am told, by a division of |100,000 of Mohawk and Hudson stock, at par, among the stockholders of the turnpike.
