What reading level is The Pathan Borderland : a Consecutive Account of the Country And People On And Beyond the Indian Frontier From Chitral to Dera Ismail Khan ... book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

The variety of trees in the neighbourhood could hardly fail to attract the attention of even the least observant person. The com- monest kinds, which line the Mall in its entire length, are the Farash (Tamarix Articulata), Mulberry (Moms Indica), Siris {ATbizzia Lehbele), Toon (Cedrela Toona), Shisham (Dalbergia Sisso), Pipal (Ficus Religiosa) and the Jaman tree (Eugenia Jambolana). The Cheel (Pinus Longifolia) grows to a great size, in spite of the unsuitability of the climate, and Chenars (Pl...atanus Orientalis) appear to thrive, though, as a rule, four thousand feet is their lowest limit. The specimens found in Peshawar are as yet young. Their leaves wither quite early in the summer.
Peshawar was once famous for a Budha tree, which in many hundred years grew to an immense size. Its foliage " completely blotted out the sunshine." Mention is made of this remarkable peepul tree by the Emperor Babar in about 1520 A.D. There appears to be no record of what eventually happened to it, but it probably fell to bits from sheer age, or was cut up for firewood by the unsentimental Sikhs.
