Therefore before we pro- ceed in this Affaire, consider what our Religion will gain by it, an Ornament or a Blott, and whether we shall not give Occasion to adversaries (that seek occasion) to blas- pheme the name and speake evill of the waies of God amongst us. Eighthly, Consider the time and state of affaires in the Christian world. If anything be true of that which comes to us it seerns, it is a time wherein there is a strong engage- [11] ment to root out the Protestant Religion.
