Hence the prefix is Tyddan, gen. Of Tydda ; and the sense is ' Tydda' s marsh '.

Mere, from the A. S. Mere (rarely moere), a mere, lake, pool, is familiar to all who know the English Lakes. It occurs in Catmore (formerly Catmere), Peasemore (formerly Peasemere), and Ripples- mere.
