And the fourth section is : " Nothing herein contained shall apply to any action, suit, proceeding, or bill in any Court of Common Law or in any Ecclesiastical Court, or iu either House of Parliament, insti- tuted in consequence of adultery or to any action for breach of promise of ma,rriage." Subsequently to the passing of these Acts the Legislature has rendered it competent in the Divorce Court for the husband and the wife, if the suit be instituted in a particular manner, to give evidence in cases of adultery, and in cases of cruelty and impotency their evidence is continually admitted.
