CJt'O hearts that love the Holy Land ^^ To do so is a sweet demand, So strong, so touching is the claim.

Though indignation doomed that city, His eye beheld with tender pity.

Jerusalem was overthrown, Left scarcely with a stone on stone.
Within its foe-beleaguered walls — A fact which still the world appals — A million perished — Woe-struck nation That scorned to own its visitation !
