Tliis " lewd person " was -immediately arrested; boldly confessed that he had set up the bull, and in August was hanged, drawn, and quartered for high treason.^ Though the majority of the English Catholics denied the validity of the Papal act against the authority of their queen, they still regarded with reverence its spiritual censures.
