We reaHze and regret the existence of misrepresentation, but we offer no substitute because we feel the pr...oblem is being solved through the placing of restrictions on the selection of candidates through such meas- ures as the direct primary, the corrupt practices act, publicity of campaign contributions, and the short ballot. These measures go directly to the root of the evil by making it harder for the corrupt man to get into office so he can misrepresent us. And we of the negative are optimistic enough to believe that the problem is thus solving itself without the adoption of a measure, which from whatever standpoint you view it, that of the gov- ernment, the voter, or the official, that of practical operation or the theory of government, shows itself to be ineffective, superficial and dangerous.
