After the couplet a quatrain of four lines with only two rimes, e. g. Mary's Lamb may be taken for a model and treated in the same way, and next a quatrain riming alternately, like the Casablanca stanza.
Only a little of this preliminary class work will be necessary. As soon as possible children should be allowed to attempt stanzas for themselves, choosing at first their own subject and metre ; the class work should then be criticism of individual efforts. Two stanzas at least should be require
