They also throw light on the Jewish life in Spain in that period. They show that in the time of Alfasi there were flourishing Jewish communities all over Spain. We also hear of relations of Spanish Jews to French . Jews (see Cj^lH JYblBMT, ed|Livorno, No. 223). U Alfasi is altogether a unique figure in the history of Talmudic learning. He lived to the age of 90.
