For the first time in a great while he had dined wearing his dinner clothes. And in the mirror he could see how Mab...el glanced at his back, admiringly. In fact, Mabel had a hard fight to keep back her desire to add just one more plea that he come back to her, at least in spirit. As he stood smoking with his arm resting on the mantel, he was indeed fine-looking. Somehow the narrow dinner coat made him look taller and broader through the shoulders. She wished that she might go up and throw her arms about him and draw him close to her.
