What then, but the most fatal infatuation and madness of party spirit could have conspired to overthrow and destroy so prosperous a state of things ?.
2. I propose to show that the most of the leading fabrics of American production have greatly, rapidly, and in many instances ruinously diminished under the operation of the present Tariff'. I have nothing like full and complete statistics by me on this sub- ject, but 1 have quite sufficient to prove the position I have ta- ken.
