Nay, more; such is the weakness of nature, that after a man has been " delivered from the power of darkness, and translated into the kingdom of God's dear Son, " he finds himself unable to maintain his standing be- fore God. He knows how the veriest trifle and vanity of this world will move his heart from the everlasting realities of the gospel; how soon he dishonours Christ, by pride or some other abominable sin. Such a man, so taught, can find rest only in the free grace of 144 JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH.
