And our life is a fire that blazes awhile. Then sinks and is gulf 'd in the gloom That broods before Death's murky door, Hiding ...the shapes in the Future's womb ; Like the Will-o'-the-wisp while ye may then play, For the end of your play is the tomb.

ROAM by night in the pale moonlight, Meriy and fearless and free, When the stars above are shining bright, Ho ! that's the time for me.
w 'Tis then I flit through the dark pine grove, Through the dark pine grove I fly.
In the day I rest, but at night I rove. And hoot with joyful cry.
Full merry's my song as I glide along.
In the night alone I see, I hate the day with its noisy throng, But night's the time for me !
