Christ is that sheltering Rock, whence water sweet To fertilize a barren world outflows ; The watered desert blossoms as a rose Beneath His Pilgrim-Bride's advancing feet.
But more than this did Pentecost disclose • When thereunto, a Pilgrim still, she came Forth from that Rock upsprang an altar-flame.
