Then Mr. Bellot bound on his books, and said he wanted to go and see how the ice was moving; he was goneonly four minutes, when I went to seek him behind the floe whichsheltered us; but I did not find him, and, returning to our retreat, Isaw his stick on the opposite side of a crevasse about three fathomswide, where the ice was all broken.
