GOVERNOR TILDEN was present by invitation at the fair of the Young Women s Christian Association, held at the Academy of Music on the evening of Saturday the 7th of May, 1876. The Governor s allusion to Mr. James Stokes is explained by the fact that that excellent gentleman had given fifteen thousand dollars to the purchase of the building occupied by the Associa tion.
