In the morning, between four and five, I arose, built the fire, made the coffee, cut and dressed steaks, chops, and bacon, placed potatoes, hash and other things in the oven and on the range, where upon I enjoyed a smoke, and with it the comfort of a cup of coffee. After dinner more or less the same work was to be done over again, and likewise after supper, TRAVEL, ETC.
