Now, valor-crowned and victory-wreathed, comes the sovereign tragedy of all that crimson conflict — the heroic exploit of the famed "Lost Battalion" in Argonne Forest, which won for that death-devoted band its historic appellation. Yet, if pride properly may have a place in the wanton butchery called war, this indeed is its proudest achievement.
