Tho some of the Rules, which are proposed to be observed, in ordering the Libraries, may at first Reading, seem hard, yet upon due Consideration, it will be found very necessary, to use a great deal of strictness, and exactness in this Affair. They who know the World, but a lit- tle, and have seen the fate of some Libraries, will Reckon the outmost precaution, we can use little enough to prevent what in Scotland 65 otherwayes, will be unavoida- ble. It's a work of no small dif- ficulty, to purchase a parcel of good Books, for publick advan- tage, nor is it less difficult to preserve and secure them for posterity, when they are pur- chased.
