Now, then, our raiser of coal and our digger of iron ore finds himself under the necessity of paying more for the tools... and machinery he necessarily requires, more for his mules, more for his labor than would otherwise be the case under no tariff. In other words, his coal and his iron ore cost him more by reason of the tariff. Of course if they cost him more he must get more for his goods, in order to make a living out of his business, and he is enabled to obtain this increased 120 UNWISE LAWS.
