[44] lions done in marble white Command the terrace day and night On which a palace, silent, stands: Magnolia blossoms fill the air With odors luscious everywhere; Abundant, trained by many hands, The flowers; fountains small and great, And virgin trees, the gift of God, Whose fulsome tops with music nod To every breeze, insatiate: A pheasant frivols fearlessly, And many a bird delights to bring Its chosen mate and breed and sing In this entrancing Arcady.
