The dam was constructed in 1939 and is 102 feet tall, with a concrete chute spillway and a gated, reinforced concrete outlet conduit. The normal storage capacity of the reservoir is 7,200 acre-feet.
The dam is a high-hazard structure, which means that its failure could cause loss of life.
