As a matter of fact the sole support for these statements existed in the fertile imagination of M. Alglave himself.
There is no alcohol monopoly in Austria.
Finally M. Alglave attempted to invoke the example of Italy. In 1894, or seven years later than the sitting of the committee above referred to, the Italian govern- ment had considered the question, but any really seri- ous discussion of the proposition was defeated by the outcry which arose.
