All this William perfectly understood ; but he carried out the desires of the States by again appealing to the Queen. In the meantime he is writing to his brother imploring... him to seek for aid in Germany. His private letters and his public utterances be- tray not a thought of the kind. They breathe nothing but unconquered resolution.
