What reading level is World of Suzie Wong book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

Once I had been incapable of serious work with another person in the room, for I would feel self-conscious; but I found Suzie’s presence comforting, and indeed it had soon become so much a habit that I could hardly work if she was not there. Her patience was infinite, and while I worked she would sit cross-legged on the bed, often for hours at a time, looking through a picture book or else simply engrossed in her own thoughts; for she had a natural aptitude for contemplation. And from time to ti...me she would break the silence to ask a question about whatever matter was on her mind, and afterwards would sum up her conclusions.
“I think the Nam Kok must make God feel very happy,” she said once, after a long cogitation about religion. “You see, I don’t think God cares whether men and women get married. He doesn’t make animals get married, or fish, or flowers—and there are man and woman flowers just like us, you know.”
I said, “And you think we’re just the same to God as animals or flowers?”
