What reading level is The Darkest Minds book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

In the entire compact bathroom, there were only six things: the sink, the toilet, the towel, the shower, its curtain, and me.I was the last one in. By the time I finally walked through the motel room door, Zu had already been in and out and Chubs had just barricaded himself in the bathroom, where he spent the next hour scrubbing himself and all of his clothing until they stank of stale soap. It seemed pointless to me to try to do laundry in a sink with hand soap, but there was no bathtub or laun...dry detergent for him to use. The rest of us just sat back and tuned out his impassioned speech on the importance of good hygiene.“You’re next,” Liam had said, turning to me. “Just make sure you wipe down everything when you’re done.”I caught the towel he threw to me. “What about you?”“I’ll take one in the morning.”With the bathroom door shut and locked behind me, I dropped my backpack on the toilet seat cover and went to work sorting through its contents. I pulled out the clothes they had given me and dumped them on the floor.

Excellent read. Captivating story line, I truly enjoyed this book. Loved the characters and their development, the sad ending highlighted just how much the main character had grown & the selflessness she displayed was both heroic & tragic. Highly recommend!

I heard a rumor that this is like a YA Evangelion. I have high hopes for this one, whenever I get around to actually reading it.

It has a sad twist in the end. That’s the only bad thing about this book. Hope that second part is not as sad.

Why did it have to end like that? I enjoyed reading it, but because it was so short, it only took me a few hours. Can't wait to read the second part.

How come the latest book in the series is easy to find, while the first one is impossible to find AT ALL??

Guest 5 years ago

Maybe because their keeping close tabs on the Darkest Minds books since the release of the movie. It's not an altogether bad idea. In fact I'm sure that's why this is such a short slip.
