And though he does not say directly that the believer is baptized "into the name of the Son, " that was evidently in his mind when he wrote as he did upon the relation of the believer to the Son of God, when that rela- tion was all that it should be. He explains at length what it is to receive and enjoy Christ, as the believer is brought into connection with him in baptism. The theme of the section from which we are quoting is the importance of baptism when properly performed. And he shows that... baptism brings the believer into such a relation to all the persons in the Godhead, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as secures to him the help and blessing of all.
After plainly representing the believer as being baptized "into the name of the Father, " and show- ing the fruits of such a baptism, and after plainly indicating that he is also baptized into the name of the Son, he comes to notice the name of the Holy Spirit, the third person in the Godhead, and the believer's relation to him, and says: "What is it, then, that a man professes to believe in being baptized in the name of the Holy Gho" ^^ Il6 TRINE IMMERSION.
