Some of these subjects are, vaccination, ventilation, purity of water, drainage, the effects of dampness, the prevention of contagious diseases, disin- fection, and a number of other like subjects. At its last session, the Legislature ordered 300 copies of the report of the Board to be pub- lished, which were evidently quite insufficient for general distribution among the people. That report contained the address of the Board to the Legislature, the report of the Secretary, a paper compiled fro...m statements of the physicians of the State upon the subject of Malaria, its causes and means of prevention, and a paper on the proper feed- ing of infants, all which may be presumed to be not only interesting, but instructive to our people.
At the last session of the Legislature, a bill was passed, agreeably to the request of the Board, for the Registration of Births, Marriages and Deaths. By the requirements of that law, the Recorders of Deeds of the State provided books of record, and sent circulars with blank forms for registration, to all physicians and other persons required by the law to make reports to the Recorders.
