To indicate this we may refer to the widely differing recognitions of KANT'S cosmo- logical work which have been made in various quarters. That this view is untena- ble, is clear from H.... L. VOGEL'S expressions: If one now make allowance for this fundamental error, (that KANT supposed the circling movement of the planetary system not to have existed from the begin- ning, but to have gradually developed itself), KANT'S theory contains so many errors and difficulties in particular points, that it now actually is without any value. These difficulties and errors are, however, of such SWEDENBORG AS A COSMOLOGIST. 67 a nature that they should have been apparent even in KANT'S time to a man schooled in the laws of mechanics as all the essential principles of mechanics were already known at that time.
