Carrying out the reference to St Christopher, each person is touching either the body, or the sheet by which the body is beino- lowered. Some are touching; both. One holds the sheet with his teeth in order that his hands may be free to assist in the descent. All are thus gathered about a common centre, and are brought into the closest contact.
