But where are these thousands to be found? The munificent, but isolated, efforts of individuals, the grants of the Church Building Society, the Queen Anne Bounty funds, these seem only to speak to our shame, when, according to the last report of the Ecclesiastical Com- missioners, additional Church accom- modation for 600, 000 individuals has been the only result, together with endowment for some hundred clergymen, to attend to the wants of hundreds of thousands, nay, millions of Englishmen.
