What reading level is History of India From the Earliest Times to 1880 book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

The provinces referred to were shamefully misgoverned; and, although the right of the government to interfere had been established by previous treaty, no action was taken except; to issue manifestos which appeared to be worth no more than the paper they were written upon. It was the same with Hyderabad in the nizam's dominions, whose government was in a condition thoroughly disreputable. With regard to Mysore, more prompt action was taken; but not till the extravagant conduct of its rajah had g...oaded the people into insurrection (1832).
With greater show of decision, indeed, the district of Coorg was invaded and annexed to the British dominions; but, as in the instance of Hyderabad, the conduct of its rajah, whose doings were made known by his own family, who had been compelled to flee beyond the reach of his atrocities, was so revolting, that no governor with L-ord Bentinck's humanity coiild well withhold interference.
This promptitude was not emulated in the case of Gwalior (1833) and Jeypoor (1835), at which latter place an English official lost his life in a factious quarrel.
