What reading level is Holbein book?

Washed drawing in the Basle JMuseum. (After'"an riginal photograph by Braun, Clement & Co. , Dornach (Alsace) and Paris. ) In a rich com- position which re- presents the Co- ronation of the Virgin as Queen of Heaven Hol- bein has left out the architectural frame completely and displayed his liking for the creation of fanci- ful masonry only in the splendid throne standing on the clouds, on which the figures of God the Father and God the Son are seated. An- other design with- out a frame is a pa...rticularly fine one of the Archangel Michael, who is conceived as a figure carved in wood, standing on a kind of bracket; the angel ^ holds the scales of judgment and weighs the burden of sin, suggested by the figure of a devil, against the power of redemption, sym- bolized by the child Christ (Fig. 27). A unique position, in respect of subject, among the designs for glass-painting is held by an excellent drawing, which shows the prodigal son as a swineherd within a frame-border. In a landscape closed in by mountains the herd of swine is gathered round an oak-tree, and their keeper, as if urged by unrest within, steps quickly forward, with the shy look of a man who has gone wrong, but on whose features such a feeling of misery is stamped that the sight of him awakens compassion rather than abhorrence.
