On the other handj there is no reason, that I IS IMMORTALITY DESIRABLE? 21 have been able to discover, for accepting Nietzsche's cosmology. Quite other possibilities may, for aught we know, be open to us. And we may proceed to examine whether there are not con- ceptions of immortality which we should hold to be more desirable than this. Hitherto we have been dealing with the idea of prolongations or repe- titions of life on earth. Let us now ex- tend our imaginations to possibilities farther from our experience.
