What reading level is Joseph Ii book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

A commission was appointed for the purpose of carrying out the scheme. Only after long deliberations, and towards the close of the reign, was the result arrived at The conclusion of the com- mission was that for every hundred florins the occupier would require for his maintenance seventy, that rather more than seventeen ought to belong to the landlord, and the remainder to the State. On the supposition that the percentage laid upon the land was the highest it would bear after allowing proper me...ans of livelihood to the occupier, no further taxes should have been levied. But although Joseph was eager for the adoption of his land tax, he did not relinquish his commercial views. He was essentially a protectionist. Many times in writing to his brother he explains that in order to find employment for labour and to encourage new industries, it was necessary to lay a tax upon imports, frequently rising to entire prohibition.
Reforms, of which these are but instances, were pushed forward in every branch of social life.
