Ovarian opotherapy has also been found useful in the obesity which often comes on after the meno- pause but is probably inferior to thyroid extract for this purpose. It has been tried in the chronic rheumatism of elderlv women without marked result, DIETARY AND GENERAL TREATMENT 251 in osteomalacia with improvement (Senator, Castellevi), but adrenal extract has done better, and both seem inferior to the effect of castration the results of which are evident.
