We enjoyed these vacations very much, for the life was out in the open and the fishing exce...ed- ingly good, and not only the boys and myself, but my wife and the girls were very fond of fishing. In 1892 the men at our boarding-house and some of those of the neighborhood took an all night fishing trip off the eastern end of the Island of Monhi- gan, which is several miles off the coast. We had such a fine time that the ladies were extremely anxious to go with us on a similar trip. Capt. Chadwick, the owner of the schooner, at first refused to take "women folks" on an all night trip, but after much persuasion consented and we went in his largest schooner.
