What reading level is Refraction of the Eye Its Diagnosis And the Correction of Its Errors With a Ch book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

E. , towards the object till it is within 6 cm. Of the latter, as at Z', the distance of the image T will be nearly 2 cm. (j = 1 -f 1 = ■£% or b = nearly 2). But as the ratio of the distance of the image from the lens, as compared with that of the object from the lens, is greater in the second than the first of these examples, so is the size of the image. In myopia, therefore, on approach- ing the lens to the eye the image diminishes in size, and on withdrawing it from the eye the image increas...es.
The above explanation holds good for myopia only so long as the lens is not withdrawn beyond the "far point" of the eye plus its own focal distance : for hypermetropic only so long as the focal power of the lens is greater than the degree of hypermetropia. The exception to this latter condition does not occur in practice if a lens of 3 inch focus be used and need not therefore be considered. In the case of very high degrees of myopia, however, if the lens be further from the eye than the aerial inverted image of the disc plus its own focal distance, an erect image of the disc is formed between the lens and the observer, the variations in size of which are subject to the same rules as those described for the inverted image in hypermetropia.
