...the family severed its con- nection with New England life when his grandfather, Theodore Strong, a celebrated mathematician, was appointed Professor of Mathematics of Hamilton College from which he was subsequently called to fill a similar position at Rutgers College.
Sullivan 439 Mr. Strong received his education iu Rutgers College Grammar School and Rutgers College, graduating from the latter institution in the class of 1883. He studied law with the liriu of Woodbridge Strong & Sons, and was admitted to the Bar as an attorney in June, 1886, and as a coun- selor in June, 1889.
