One met...hod of avoiding the curl of a sample is to insert one standard metal paper staple on each side of the sample one half inch from the lower end and as near the edge as possible. The outer ends of the staples act as small hooks to which can be attached two 28-gauge (B & S) copper wires fastened at the other end in such a manner as to exert a gentle 45-degree angle pull, thus holding the sample in a vertical jDlane. This manner of sus- pending the sample eliminates curl with an insignificant heat loss.
