The greatest part of this very paper is an ex- tract from a French manuscript, which was lent roe by my good friend Mr. Charwell. He tells me he has bad it about these twenty years in his possession ; and be seems to me to have taken from it very many of the maxims he hat pursued in the new settlement, I have hereto- fore spoken of, upon bis lands.
