MACLEOD'S MAIDENS.
The " Maidens " are three remarkable basaltic pillars rising vertically out of the sea, to a height of some 200 feet. Seen looming through the mists the rocks assume forms well justifying the name bestowed on them by the people, of "The Mac- Leod's Maidens " from their fanciful resemblance to gigantic women clad in cloaks and hoods.
