Then it was that men saw the best of the young crowdi...ng into professions already over- crowded, and they noted with sorrow and regret that edu- cation served principally to draw men away from the useful callings and to pile them up like salmon in the spawning sea- son where they were not needed or wanted, and where little awaited but their own destruction.
The country is, and always will be, the great breeding- ground for the nation, and the consequence of this insane movement cityward of the choicest men and minds could have had but one final effect to put the brains in the city and the brawn in the country.
