What reading level is Zoologist: a Monthly Journal of Natural History book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

The January specimen was a male weighing 5} oz. and measuring lOi in. in length, of which the tail was H^ in. ; its body was of considerable bulk, which may be inferred from the above weight when compared with the measurements. The specimen taken in July weighed only 3 oz. and was only 9 inches long including the tail, which was 2 in. This was a female, and in appearance the sleekest little creature I ever saw, for its snake-like body was hardly thicker than one's finger, and the tiny limbs see...med the perfection of symmetry and form, indicating extreme activity when alive, to which its needle-like teeth must have been a useful adjunct. There was a peculiarity about the tail, caused I suppose by some accident : the middle portion for about half-an-inch in length was almost bare of hair, but the tip ended in quite a tuft, which looked rather curious. Both specimens were pure white, with piuk eyes ; the ears, nose, lips, and toes pale flesh-colour.
The three specimens I have seen were all taken within a radius of ten miles, but not very near each other.
