Conscience, in discovering to us moral law for the guidance of our actions, has authority over all other springs of activity within us. Every spring of activity within us operates according to a law of its own nature. Thus every affection and desire comes into play under a definite law determining its exercise. But neither affections nor desires are competent for their own guidance. All these forces of our nature are dependent upon CONSCIENCE.
