What reading level is The Old Testament a Study in the Hebrew Sacred Writings book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

The discourse is intensely monotheistic, emphazing the divinity of Jahveh alone, and in every way forbidding adherence to any heathen idols. From this motive the Hebrews were commanded to destroy the foreigners they would find in the land of Canaan, and forbidden to inter- marry with them (vii, 1-6). The goodness of Jahveh to Israel is illustrated by a review of some of the events in the last forty years, and from the same source the wickedness of the people is pointed out as a solemn warning.
...In this section we find the Deuteronomic version of the decalogue, and the story of its origin is told at great length (v, ix, 9-x, 5). There are many verbal differences between the two versions of the decalogue. That in Exodus xx has been used so exclusively in Christian teaching that this version is looked upon as an intruder. There is one point in which the differ- ence is pretty radical, that is in the motive for ob- serving the Sabbath day. The accepted version bases the obligation on a statement no longer regarded as true, that the world was created in six days, and yet we go on saying this in our most solemn liturgy and faithfully teach it to our children.
